Convivir: (v)
To live amongst, to do life with,
to spend time together in community.
We share life with marginalized families in urban Mexico City,
building trust through presence
cultivating community
& empowering local leaders
Together, we seek community development and family wholeness, driven by the transformation we experience as we convivir– live life –with Jesus.
Who We Are
We are a non-denominational Christian organization committed to serving individuals who are marginalized by society and overlooked by the Church. Our focus is on vulnerable families living in the urban poor communities of Mexico City.
We engage with people in the context of their daily lives—whether in homes, tattoo parlors, Zumba classes, or on the streets playing fútbol—meeting them where they are, both culturally and spiritually. This intentional, relational presence reflects the example we see in Jesus’ ministry, who spent time dining with tax collectors, prostitutes, the sick, and those on the margins.
Our vision is to demonstrate, through our presence and holistic community development, that every person is created with dignity and value in God’s eyes, that He cares about all aspects of their lives, and that He desires a personal relationship with them.
The Challenges We Address
In Mexico City’s urban poor communities, families face systemic challenges including corruption, gang-controlled services, and limited government support. Basic needs like safety, healthcare, education, and transportation are unreliable or inaccessible. High crime rates, addiction, domestic abuse, and undervaluing of women compound family struggles. Many children lack safe places to play and grow, and single-mother households are common.
Hopelessness is widespread due to food and work insecurity, lack of trauma support, and distrust within communities. Spiritual life is conflicted by corrupt church leadership, legalistic Christianity, and the rise of Santa Muerte (Death) worship, reflecting a deep need for justice and hope.
How We Respond
We address these challenges by building trusted, long-term relationships within the community. Through presence and partnership, we work together with local leaders and families to seek community development.
Our holistic approach starts with kid’s clubs that provide safe spaces for children to learn and grow, youth and women’s groups that foster support and empowerment, and men’s soul work focused on healing and restoration.
As relationships deepen, we support grassroots community development by working alongside locals to identify needs and connect relevant resources. This includes training and support in areas such as literacy, abuse prevention, addiction recovery, further education, and family counseling.
Additionally, we integrate sustainable projects like aquaponics to promote food security and economic opportunity.
Following the example of Jesus, we pursue meaningful, long-term transformation by walking alongside individuals and families through consistent presence, mutual trust, and practical support. Rather than imposing outside solutions, we invest in authentic relationships that empower local leadership, foster community resilience, and address real needs with dignity and respect.

“The strength of a community lies in the strength of its relationships.”
